Understanding the need
Green Energy Trading is one of the largest environmental certificate agents in Australia. Established in 2007 Green Energy Trading create, purchase and trade Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) for customers who install renewable energy systems such as solar PV, solar hot water and small wind.
As a REC agent, Green Energy Trading must meet strict compliance requirements. Proof of installation and full and complete details of the exact installation address must be provided to the regulator to ensure the creation of eligible Renewable Energy Certificates.
Successfully complying with these requirements was becoming difficult for Green Energy Trading as meeting these requirements involved various manual methods to verify names and addresses such as searching mapping websites and street directories.
Miriam Butcher, Systems & Compliance Manager for Green Energy Trading noted that this was becoming a problem. “This created issues on two fronts, firstly it was time consuming and secondly it was open to user error. If our submissions are rejected because of an incorrect address this impacts our accreditation with the regulator and could ultimately result in a suspension of our accreditation” she explained.
Green Energy Trading needed to find a contact verification solution to ensure there was no adverse impact on its business or its customers.
Solution
Green Energy Trading contacted Sensis Data Solutions to enquire about their data quality solutions and how these could help resolve their issues. Through detailed discussions with SDS Green Energy Trading chose to integrate Sensis’ award winning real-time contact validation solution, White Pages TotalCheck®, into its ERP/CRM system, NetSuite.
TotalCheck’s reliable combination of data sources including the White Pages® and Australia Post Postal Address File (PAF) and its ability to capture complete customer details enabled Green Energy Trading to streamline its REC creation.
Within weeks TotalCheck was verifying addresses along with names and telephone numbers as part of the REC creation process.
As customer details were entered TotalCheck would suggest applicable names and addresses from both White Pages® and the PAF. Users then selected the appropriate details and populated their form in the correct format for submission.
Results
Users of the system now have confidence that their submissions would have an accurate address and postcode minimising the regulators ability to reject them. Since implementation of TotalCheck™ Green Energy Trading have reaped substantial benefits.
